Stacking the Shelves (2) (And a few other things...)

Before we get started on what books I have gotten recently, let me update you guys on a few things :)

As some of you may know, I had a paid work experience job doing Public Relations (what I'm studying) at a fairly large company in my hometown so for the first time ever I worked fulltime. Can I just say this now, I HATE being a grown up.

Dear adults who find time to work blog and read,

How do you do it? How do you manage to go to work everyday, or even run around looking after children all day and find the time to read, let alone blog? I only worked full time (8.00am-4.30pm) for a month and it's like nothing I've ever experienced! I would come home from work, shower and then want to go to sleep immediately. I didn't read because I was, get this, exhausted. Yes, I was exhausted from working a normal job which I know is a part of life.  *cries* I KNOW! I deserve to be slapped!

I seriously have newfound respect to all you lovely people out there who are stay at home mums, dads or who have to work everyday. I couldn't do it. Even when I was in highschool and was studying 5 TEE subjects and even now in uni, I STILL have more time and energy to invest in reading and blogging than I did when I worked full time!

I didn't lose my passion for reading or for blogging, I just literally could not do it!

I know this is directed at adults, but seriously can I give you a virtual hug?
No? Well too bad :D
*hugs*

Love always,
I don't wanna grow up.

Well, that's it for me complaining about how hard life is and how much I love the fact I'm back at uni and back to learning, lectures and procrastination.

In other news, I turned 20 on the 18th July :) (there's that whole "being an adult" thing again, NOOOOOO) It was amazing, I got to spend it with my family and on the Friday night, my friends held a surprise dinner for me (yes, I cried a little. Okay, A LOT) and it was just overall amazing <3

In celebration of my birthday and the fact that I'm nearly at 300 followers (YAY!) I think you can expect a giveaway coming up shortly :)

NOW. For the books. I know I said I was going to do a video but I can't be bothered and plus that would require me putting effort into my appearance right now hahaha :) So without further ado...

Gift:
Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James (*cries*) - From my lovely friend, Rachel :) I wouldn't have bought it myself otherwise!
Pretty Little Liars Season 1

Bought:
Struck by Jennifer Bosworth
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Winter's Light by M.J. Jearle - I just realised this is a sequel :( now I need the first one!
Pennies For Hitler by Jackie French
Poison Heart by S.B. Hayes
Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar (not shown)
Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder (not shown) - And again, I need the first two but my FAVOURITE local  bookstore was closing down and I nearly cried so I was willing to hand over my money haha

What did you add to your shelves this week :)
Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature over at Tynga's Reviews which allows us all to drool with one another over any books that have been added  to our bookshelves both physically and virtually!

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY... I cried when I turned 19 because that made me feel old... Gah! I wonder how you find time to read and go to uni, because I struggle with college and am dreading Uni in September!

some good books this week anyway... except that awful Fifty Shades book, gah! Struck is great and I'm dying for Poison Heary and you NEED to read the Study series, seriously!

  5. Ugh I'm seriously not looking forward to working a full time job either! Even high school (7:45-3pm) was exhausting for me. Now uni is like a breath of fresh air (1-2 classes a day, 3-5 times a week). I have so much free time and I don't know what I'll do without it!

Great books this week! Especially Struck! I have a copy but haven't read it yet.. but I'm looking forward to it! I really, really didn't like Fifty Shades of Grey. It seems to be a love it or hate it kind of book. I'm curious to see what you think!

  7. Great set! I so want to read Night Beach. And I'm curious about Fifty Shades. I find that reading is somewhat easier when working full time because I don't have homework like I did in school.

  8. I HATE BEING A GROWN UP TOO. What happened to our primary school days where responsibility was not a word we were familiar with? Le sigh. Seriously though, I have no effing idea how those full time workers/parents do it. Full time job, everyday house things, maintaining a social life, sense of sanity and THEN reading/blogging on top of that? HOW?!

EEEEEEEEEE IT WAS YOUR BIRTHDAY. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! *glomps* <3 Awww, so sweet of your friends! Glad you had an amazing day - I hope another year into adulthood treats you well :)

Oooh I have Struck to read soon too. Need to find time to squeeze it in, but SO EXCITED. Lightening addict? I'M SO THERE. And I'm super interested in Poison Heart too. Hahaha Fifty Shades.... very curious to see what you think of that :D

I need to read Maria's Study series too! Love her Insiders books and Touch of Power, so I need MOOOAAARRRR.

FANTABULOUS HAUL, TANEIKA! Sorry the whole grown-up thing isn't treating you well, but I hope you enjoy your new reads with your regained procrastination time :D

  9. I don't know how those adult blogger out there who works and have kids but still able to read and blog A LOT! I can't imagine what will happen to me if I started working full time. Anyway, hope you enjoy all the books you got for this week, Taneika. Good luck with Fifty Shades of Grey, I'm not really a fan of that one. :D

  10. *hugs* Awww, Taneika! Work is something you get used to. You find balance. I wonder how school students managed to go to school from 9-3, go home, do chores, do HOMEWORK, make bed by a curfew and blog. I think THAT is amazing. At the end of the day, I leave work, and that's that.

When you start a new job, it's the hardest, It's stressful, you're trying doubly hard to make a good impression, and you're still learning the ropes. It gets easier. Promise.

Also: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! *STREAMERS* *POPPERS* *WHISTLES*

AND FIRE STUDY! I seriously hope you love. Maria's one of my most favoritest authors :)
